E-Plus Clubs to battle it out tomorrow

Colleges from across the State will be vying for the coveted trophy and cash award
The first state-level The Hindu Education Plus (E-Plus) Club inter-collegiate Challenge-2012 is all set to take place at Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj (MVGR) College of Engineering, Vizianagaram, nearly 45 km. from here, on Sunday. About 30 colleges from across the State will be vying for the coveted trophy and cash award of Rs.25,000 in the day-long contest.

The trophy will be given away by the Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari in the presence of the Editor of The Hindu Siddharth Varadarajan, Chairman of MVGR Anand Gajapathi Raju and Vice-Chairman Ashok Gajapathi Raju.

The event is being held in association with Conduira Education and Training Services.
The morning session is dedicated to the regional finals, wherein 24 colleges from the coastal districts will compete for a place in the state-wide finals that will be conducted in the post-lunch session. The top three teams from the coastal districts will find a place in the state finals to fight it out with three other top teams from Vijayawada and Hyderabad regions respectively. The regional finals of Vijayawada region was held on January 5 and the teams that qualified were Vignan University, Siddhartha Group of Institutions and RVR and JC College of Engineering. The regional finals of Hyderabad region was held on January 21 and the teams that qualified were Vasavi College of Engineering, Bhavan's Vivekananda Degree College and Mufakkamjah College of Engineering and Technology.

The colleges that will be participating in the Visakhapatnam regional finals are: MVGR College of Engineering, Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology, GMR Institute of Technology, Vignan Institute of Information and Technology, Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pragati Engineering College, Raghu Engineering College, Raghu Institute of Technology, Aditya Institute of Technology and Management, Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Women, MR PG College, Sri Prakash College of Engineering, Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women, Vizag Institute of Technology, PRISM College, Pydah College for Women, Pydah Engineering College, MVR Engineering College, MVR Degree College, Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College of Engineering for Women, Al-Ameer and Al-Aman College of Engineering and Pharmacy, Visakha Institute of Technology and Sciences and Miracle Educational Society and Group of Institutions

Prize money

The state-wide runner-up will take home a cash prize of Rs.15,000. For the regional champions of Visakhapatnam region, there will be cash prizes of Rs.10,000 for the winner, Rs.5,000 for first runner up and Rs.2,500 for the second runners-up. Apart from the main trophies, there will be trophies and cash awards for each of the events. The competition will revolve round soft skill related events and contain activities such as quiz, group discussion, extemporary public speaking, paper presentation and creative presentation.
A host of eminent personalities will be present to judge the events.
The judges include G. Rambabu, Sree Kiran Babu and Marina Manoj of APTECH, Sangita Sehgall, Vinay Sehgall and Shyla Kurma from The Launch Pad, Dr. Indira, Dr. Nalini Dutta and Nivedita Antyakula from St. Joseph's College for Women, Sai Lakshmi from Government Polytechnic College, Uma Shankar, P. Bhanumathi and Aryabhatla Rammohan from Conduira, Lalita Manyapu from CTC Communications, Prof. Bobby Vardhan and Dr. K.V. Ramesh from Andhra University, Shankar Patra from PRIME and Dr. V. Venkat Rao from M R College. The creative presentations will be judged by Dwaram Tyagaraju, S.A. Rao and Bathina Vikram Goud.
